This week has definitely been blog worthy. After moving out of the Colony (apartments) to our condo we tried to apply for instate tuition and were denied.
Then we appealed (I totally went in front of a panel of people and everything)...and were denied. All because Ty was subbing and taking masters classes. He didn't have what they considered a "steady full-time job".
So now that he's teaching, we thought we'd give it another shot...and this week we got the letter!
Dear Ms Heid:
I am very pleased to inform you that you are considered a resident of the state of Pennsylvania for tuition purposes...
Yeah! This will save us sooo much money.
AND, I was reimbursed for a ticket for parking in a spot in Philly (behind the van) with a parking meter with this sign. They told me this was a tow zone, but I took a picture of a sign a block away with a towing sign on it. My sign clearly didn't have the No Parking, tow away stuff on it. At first the traffic judge didn't let me win my case, telling me I wouldn't until I mailed in the picture of the sign a block away. So I did. And now I don't have to pay the 40 bucks. I know, it's not much, Ty said I should have just paid it, but I just couldn't do it! I got my inspiration from Janell Gregerson. She's the best at getting out of stupid tickets!
And finally, we had an awesome weekend. On Fri. we went to our first professional indoor lacrosse game with some friends in our ward. I guess "The Philadelphia Wings" are really good. The game was at the Wachovia center. The game was a mixture of a hockey game and a rock concert, but they were using lacrosse sticks. There were fights and everything! We won (in case you don't keep up on the team like us). Oh, and our friend's two sons had a high school lacrosse scrimmage after the professional game (on the same field) so we were able to see them play too. I definitely will be going to more Lacrosse games in the future.
On Saturday we went to the Temple with the Carrs. It was really nice. And seriously, if you want your temple drive to seem like it is only 30 minutes, then go with Greg and Jenna. Ty and I have decided that going with friends to the temple has been so much more fun than going with just us. And the drive sure goes a lot quicker. We've had the chance to go with a lot of different friends to the temple and it's always really fun. The rest of the night we hung out at the good old Colony Arms apartment eating and playing games. Fun times. Oh yeah, and Tyler wanted to remind everyone that he dominated Ticket To Ride, twice. He's so humble.

What a riot you guys! Definately blog-worthy. LaCrosse eh? Looks pretty fun to me. Awesome you got out of your ticket. I think maybe you should have become a lawyer, not a dentist. Good arguing skills. Glad you had a fun week-end. Now back to the grind.
Tyler,
Next time you're going down! We played easy on you because it was your first time playing with us. Next time...no mercy!
Yeah--instate tuition! A definite blessing. It looks like you guys had a fun weekend =)
I am so jealous about the tuition. We are going to try to apply for next year. Would you be willing to let me read what you wrote on your application?
Ashley and Tyler- Thanks for inviting me to your blog. Your life seems a lot more interesting than mine =). My blog would consist of "I went to work, I came home then I went to bed". Yeah I decided being a grown up sucks- right? Well your week sounded fun, I've never been to a lacrosse game but perhaps I will in the future. I'll keep checking up on you!
Love ya!
what a fun week! Thats great about instate tuition too... good job!
Aww...in state tuition! CONGRATS! We've been there. It's such a relief when you get it! I love blog-worthy weeks! Miss you guys.
Jenna- keep dreaming. Nobody beats the Heids at that game. Everyone else is playing for third behind Ash and I.
Mathesons- Yes, you can check out what we wrote. It basically was all determined by me having a full-time job here in PA.
PS- My wife forgot to include in her blog-worthy week that she sang in sacrament meeting last Sunday and did an awesome job.
Congrats on getting in-state tuition! That's awesome!
Were you at least given the parking ticket by one of the people on "Parking Wars"? Because then it might have been worth it.
I enjoy your blog. Now there will be more inheritance for me. I'm glad you enjoyed the game. I'm glad they realized you were innocent. We need to go after the people that are really a problem to our community.
You have so inspired me -- to not get tickets! I probably would never have the gumption (or time) to go before the judge! Way to stand up for yourself. I love reading your blog and will check in more often.
That is quite the week you guys have had, congrats on getting in state tuition.
